A boy and a girl hail from different places but eventually come across, thanks to world war-2! Two characters, Werner and Marie Laure hail from Germany and France respectively.
Marie Laure turns blind at a young age. Her father, a locksmith takes care of her and protect her from the chasing world
Werner, along with his sister Jutta lives in an orphanage and ends up at National Political Institute.
Most of the story happens in a place, Saint-Malo(check the book cover)
It's a page-turner. The chapters are short and tight. Well written Anthony Doerr. Pulitzer prize winner for a reason.
