Ever since Museum of Art and Photography got opened in Bengaluru, I wanted to check it out, when I'm in town. It's located right infront of Government musuem, the place I often visited whenever I'm here for TED Conferences.
I headed to venue around the opening time. 9.50 am. I was told to wait as the galleries open at 10 am. During the waiting time, I got a chance to check out the patrons of the gallery and sculptures placed at the front yard.
Received by warm greetings, I was given briefing on MAP and the current exhibitions. I signed up for 3 exhibitions- The Visible and Invisible, Jyothi Bhatt Photographic exhibition & the holographic exhibition.
I was given a scan code, to light up a diya, digitally. An Indian ritual, he suggested.
Firstly, I visited the holographic exhibition, in which over a flat interface, through spects, I could see a holographic monuments.
Then MF Hussain holographic exhibit. After the basement exhibits, I moved to different floors, checking out, taking my own time. The most I enjoyed is Jamini Roy's collection and other artist from Madhya Pradesh, who began with a dot and went on to create prolific work.
Jyoti Bhatt's photography exhibition remains my favourite. At the end of the day, I bought 3-4 jig saw puzzles, a gift to myself and went ahead to catch up with few friends.
