Vidyadhar Raghavan aka Viddanna, he's called by many affectionately. For the first time, I met him at the crescendo room when I was walking by. Heartful smile, warm greetings, I often saw him surrounded by his friends, juniors, band members and all the loved ones bantering on food, music and a lot about everything. While I was hanging around with Vivek, Nikhil and the band- The Deccan Project, I often ran into Viddanna and remember listening to him fondly. He's loved by many and is a good mentor to many of the Crescendo members. Even though I'm not part of the group, I was always welcomed by him and heartful greetings checking up on what I'm upto. Viddaanna along with Sam, Agastya & Suresh, they formed a band called Sarvam. Sarvam has played at several places and got their own unique style. I remember witnessing the band performance when I was in town. Once Himamshu, Viddanna and Sam as a band-Antara were invited to play at Twin Cities Hyderbad Club, in which I was the member of the poetry club. I enjoyed witnessing their performance and recording it.
He's VNR alumnus, SMC alumnus and a musician and wore a lot more hats. Through social media, I got to know that he's no more. It took me a while to process this news. I'm also slowly understanding how different people process grief differently. The world has a lost a kind soul and a musician who affected a lot of them by his voice, words and his presence. Viddanna, you'll be missed. I was going through one of my favorite performances of him and discovered his nindiya performance.
