Art & Geneva- La Priere

The first time I saw this sculpture diagonally, I was perplexed by it's form. I saw it couple of time from bus and decided to check it out. In 2024, I went near the sculpture and was mesmerised by the human figure and it reminded of foetal position. The sculpture is titled- La Priere which means, In Prayer. This piece was finished in 1968. It seems to be one of the last pieces Jean worked on before he passed away in 1971

This sculpture is done by Jean Daniel Guerry. He was born on 13.March.1911 and passed away in 1971. He is originally from Cuarny, a place from Canton of Vaud. Vaud seems to be the place of artists. Prof Brindusa also lives there. The piece La Priere was acquired by Geneva in 1985
