Art & Geneva- Jean Tinguley Centenary Exhibition

Jean Tinguely is born in Fribourg and based in Basel. He is into geometric art and movement. As part of his centenary celebrations, Geneva MAH hosted a lot of exhibitions. Like they say, you hear his work before you see it. The creaking sound and the whirring sound. Engineer in me could see the gears, motions and translatory motion. I could disect the work into parts and understand the movement however, I'm lost if I want to understand it because, there's nothing to understand beyond the movement. Same goes with colours, we can dissect the colours into primary colours, secondary colours but, is that all about art. Why do we make, create? Clearly the west has given us the sense of art. In eastern societies, I could see how it's woven into daily fabric of life. It's there in the west as well but, the way we do not make it functional bring art into more of it sacred purposes.

I loved his painting works and was wondering how his drawings are part of exhibition. I love the exhibition with lights and the exhibition person was kind enough to offere us chair as we wait  to wintess the poieces. Kids were clikcing the buttons in anticipation.

Good stuff.
