Concert- Brahms Viotti Dvorak
Orchestre de la Suisse Romande is hosting a concert under the direction of Lorenzo Viotti. I was a few minutes late to the concert and got my seat by the time Conductor was already on the stage. The stage is filled with 40+ violins, violas and 6 cellists with an elobarate wind section.
The orchestra performed Symphonie N-3 en fa majeur op 90 by Johannes Brahms and Symphonie N7 en re mineur op 70 by Antonin Dvorak. I'm keen to understand the nuances of conducting as I got a chance to see orchestras under different directions. The most memorable one in recent times is by Elim Chan. Lorenzo Viotti was expressive and elobarate. Do not ask me how I ended up with those conclusions. His stage presence and his body expressions were in great sync with the highs and lows of the music presented by orchestra.
In general, I notice people of different colour in the concerts. I looked around for good time during the break but, I couldn't find any. This time, I seemed to be the only one of the colour to attend this concert. I wonder how classical music is mostly affliated to class. Back to the music, Viotti got a continuous applause hinting to perform one more piece. After the performance, he walked back to the stage to conduct a piece quickly. It was peppy and full of rigor. A good one. I am amused by the Victoria Hall and looking forward to the Fete de la Musique in upcoming weeks.
