Geneva Journals- Orchestre Philharmonique De La Paix
Philharmonic Orchestra of Peace directed by Nikolay Khozyainov performed a concert at Victoria Hall along with Clarinette player Adrien Phillipp. The orchestra performed the symphonies of Mozart and Haydn. As the concert began with Apollo et Hyacinthus K.38, it seemed blooming and springy. With less than 30 musicians, the stage seemed empty. Adrien walked in with his clarinet and performed concerto pour clarinetter en la Majeur K 622. During the little 10 second breaks he got on the stage, he'd bring out a cloth from his pocket and clean the clarinet. As he continued to do it for 5-6 times, I was worried if the performance would be abrupted but, he performed with more rigor and control as soon as he cleans his piece with different cloths. I wonder how crucial are these moments where we rely solely on instruments for the performances. A little glitch, the show can give away a different watching experience.
After a small break, Haydn was performed. In the last piece, musicians kept walking out of the stage as the piece is being played. At the end, only violinsts along with Nikolay stayed on the stage. It was quite funny and they performed the piece again on audience request. I was told that when Haydn was the conductor of military band and was camping with Austrian King. The King was delaying their return to home and band members were homesick and upset. They performed in such a scenario the message got implied to the King then. Funny. Here, at Victoria Hall, the musicians walked out of the stage twice. A good show.
