Thoughts- The Middle Ground for Expression

On a discussion about expression and art with friend, I listened to this idea- the middle ground where art and expression is subjected to experiences but transcend it beyond the 'self.' I feel that all the expressions start with self. It's a journey to dissolve the 'ego' as we create art and make it universal. Does conscious choice of making it universal works? I don't know. The more authentic we become, the more we become universal. The more we are aware of ourselves, the more we would be able to connect to others. At the end of the day, the inner world reflects the outer world.
